The latest technology on parade!I went to the Hitachi Astemo booth !! (Part 2) Victorent's EICMA 2021 local report

The latest technology that could be diverted because of the merger

Hello. I'm Ayami Kishida, a motorcycle personality. I would like to continue to report on EICMA this time as well. [Image] First exhibition at the event! View images of Hitachi Astemo booth (21 images)

Continuing from the last time, I would like to talk about when I stopped by the Hitachi Astemo booth. At the booth, we were able to listen carefully to the stories from each manufacturer. In the previous article, I talked about focusing on racing activities, but this time I will tell you about the parts that I felt closer to us and the techniques that I was interested in. ■ ABS system under development

The latest system using the ABS system

As many of you may have seen in photos and videos, it is common for motorcycles to seat two or three people in Asia. Of course, if the weight is too heavy on the rear side, the front wheels will rise. Therefore, by using the ABS (anti-lock braking system) hydraulic pump mechanism on the rear side as well, it was a technology to prevent the front wheels from rising. At the booth, I was able to actually experience using a model. Originally, it seems that ABS has two systems that can be used, but it seems that only one system is used originally, and it is a technology that was born thinking that the other system that is not used can be used without wasting it. .. If this technology is mass-produced, it will lead to stable driving, so it will also contribute to safe driving. It seems that the technology was born because the company was integrated. I thought that it would be more comfortable to run if it was attached to a motorcycle that works in Japan, for example, a motorcycle used by a mail carrier, or if it is installed on a person who carries a lot of luggage on a daily basis. ■ "DACS" under development

"DACS" being developed by Hitachi Astemo

In Southeast Asia, there is a tendency for rear-end collisions to occur due to delays in brake operation. People who are new to motorcycles and beginners are afraid to use the front brake and try to stop with only the rear brake, so there is a background that the braking distance becomes long. This system is based on ABS, and if you apply the rear brake, the front brake will be applied in conjunction with it. Also, even if the vehicle weight becomes heavy (two-seater, loading of luggage, etc.), the rear brake sensor can always detect and monitor and stop safely so that the braking distance does not become long. As I explained in the video, many overseas customers also stopped and watched. After all, I heard that there is a lot of interest in accident prevention and safe driving. When I was a moped when I was riding a motorcycle, I panicked and had a painful experience of falling due to the front lock. I thought it would be ideal to reduce the number of injuries and accidents due to technological advances and to be able to ride a motorcycle more enjoyably. ■ Mass-produced front caliper
