The first Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications selection demonstration experiments using local 5G on highway

Four companies, EXIO Group, Central Japan Expressway (hereinafter, NEXCO Central Japan), Hitachi International Electric, and AMEC Consultantz, on October 1, 2021, on the highway tunnel using local 5G on the efficiency and safety of maintenance work in the highway tunnel. It has been announced that development demonstration will be implemented. This demonstration experiment was selected as the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, "Development Demonstration for Realization of Local 5G, etc." This is the first demonstration experiment to select the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications using local 5G on a highway. Currently, a carrier 4G, which can be used in most tunnels on the highway, has an immediate issue because it takes time to transmit large -capacity high -definition images. In addition, since the spread of 5G has begun to spread, the spread of the highway in the tunnel is undecided, so we will conduct a process verification using a local 5G system that can flexibly build a 5G network in the area. 。 The demonstration experiment will be conducted in the Tokai Hokuriku Expressway Mino IC to Bi -Nami IC, the Kojoyama Tunnel (down line), and the period is from December 2021 to March 2022. NEXCO In order to solve business issues in Central Japan, we use local 5G in the process of "i-Movement" that aims to improve and enhance the safety of road conservation and inspection operations. Do it. Verification contents are (1) ensuring the safety of workers by combining ICT technology, and (2) remote work support using smart devices. Regarding (1), a high -definition video of the 4K camera installed in the highway tunnel is transmitted by locally 5G, and a dangerous event is detected by analyzing AI image analysis. After that, a series of processes that alerts the dangerous events detected to the workers on the site will lead to the improvement of workers' safety in the field.
