Attaching the camera cover to the MacBook causes damage to the display. Apple calls attention

The MacBook series has an indicator that lights up to let you know that the webcam is in use while the webcam is running.

On the 2nd, Apple released a support information document regarding the attachment of the camera cover to the notebook PCs "MacBook", "MacBook Air", and "MacBook Pro".

MacBookへのカメラカバー装着はディスプレイ破損の原因に。Appleが注意喚起

The camera cover is a retrofit cover that physically covers the camera for privacy purposes. According to Apple, the MacBook series has a very small gap between the display and the keyboard by design, so closing the display with the camera cover attached can damage the display.

In the modern MacBook series, the camera part and the display are covered with one cover glass, so if the display is scratched, it can cause the glass on the surface to break. Also, if you cover the built-in camera, it will interfere with the ambient light sensor, which may interfere with functions such as automatic brightness adjustment and True Tone.

For this reason, Apple looks at the green indicator light next to the camera to determine if the camera is working, and if so, which app is using the camera and system preferences. I recommend you to look it up.

If you are required to wear a camera cover at work, use a normal copy paper with a thickness (about 0.1 mm) or thinner, and do not use anything that leaves adhesive marks. If you install something larger than 0.1 mm, you are urged to remove the cover before closing the display.
