47th Invention Award, Points of Winning Products and Technologies Invention Achievement Award

Inventive Achievement Award (Alphabetical order)

Vibration visualization radar that measures displacement/vibration across the surface = Arwet Technology (Representative Director, Mr. Hitoshi Nomi)

An interference-type vibration observation device that transmits and receives electromagnetic waves that are reflected by the observation target. It measures minute displacements and vibrations on the surface of large structures such as bridges and buildings in real time with high precision from a distance.

Make an image with a radar and measure the vibration, speed, and displacement from the signal phase. Vibration can be measured with an accuracy of several tens of micrometers (a micro is one millionth). Since the main unit can be installed on the ground and measured, there is no need to set up large-scale scaffolding or install sensors. Measurement and monitoring are possible day and night. (Arwet Technology = Mitaka City, Tokyo)

Inventive Achievement Award

Manual vacuum capper for wide-mouthed bottles = Ikeda Machine Industry (Mr. Masuji Ikeda, Representative Director)

A device that creates a vacuum in the wide-mouthed food container and tightens the cap. Reduce the pressure in the container and tighten the cap manually without using power such as electricity. It has a two-part structure consisting of an upper part and a lower part, and a manual decompression pump and a cap tightening handle are integrated in the upper part. The lower part can center and fix bottles of various shapes.

Width 180mm x depth 170mm x height 385mm. Weight 3.2 kg. Suitable for wide-mouth bottles with an outer diameter of 30 mm to 80 mm and a height of 50 mm to 100 mm. (Ikeda Machine Industry = Kaminoyama City, Yamagata Prefecture)

Inventive Achievement Award

Disposable razor with paper handle = KAI Cutlery Development Center (President Hiroaki Endo and 4 others)

A nearly plastic-free razor with only the blade and head made of metal, and water-resistant paper used for the handle. We have achieved a configuration and structure that has the necessary durability at a low price without sacrificing warpage. Highly portable and easy to store.

For the plastic, only the adhesive used to attach the head to the handle and the film laminated to the paper are used to improve water resistance. The metal part and the paper part can be easily removed, making it highly recyclable. Easy to develop color variations and logos. (Kai Knife Development Center = Seki City, Gifu Prefecture)

Inventive Achievement Award

Automatic water quality monitoring device and low-concentration toxicity testing method = Kankyo Denshi (Chairman Takahiro Yamamoto)

We established a method for automatically monitoring water quality using medaka fish, and developed a device for it. Utilizes the habit of sensing the danger of small fish such as killifish and forming a flock. Imaging and image analysis of the behavior of medaka in water flow. When it gathers in one place, it detects it and determines whether the sample water is contaminated with low-concentration toxic substances. An alarm is sent when an abnormality is detected.

Medaka have few individual differences and are used as research test fish at universities and research institutes. For small fish, it is possible to design a compact device. (Environmental electronics = Sawara Ward, Fukuoka City)

Inventive Achievement Award

Manual shutter motorized device that can be operated with a smartphone = system design (Mr. Mitsuhiro Iida, CEO)

A device that can retrofit an existing manual shutter to a motor. Uses a brushed direct current (DC) motor. By measuring the current fluctuation, the open/close position of the shutter can be detected without a sensor, and it is possible to operate the open/close position and detect abnormalities by external control.

If you download the dedicated application (applied software), you can check the opening/closing control, settings, and operating status using your smartphone. Easy to install without having to remove the shutter shaft. (System design = Fukui City)

Inventive Achievement Award

Color universal design railroad crossing indicator light = Toho Denki Kogyo (Mr. Eiki Sato, Manager of the Design Department, Engineering Headquarters, and three others)

47th Invention Awards, winning product・Technical Points Invention Achievement Award

Indication lights for railroad crossings that are easy to see even for people with color blindness. The emission wavelength of the light emitting diode (LED) was changed to use a wavelength that is easily recognizable by most people. The current consumption is the same as that of conventional railroad crossing warning lights, so it can be installed without any equipment changes, and installation costs can be greatly reduced.

It is an omnidirectional type, and by providing the back plate function inside the light box, it prevents snow from accumulating and freezing on the back plate. Visibility is improved with a large light-emitting surface. With a design based on a curved surface, the top plate area has been reduced by 40% compared to the company's existing products. (Toho Electric Industry = Meguro Ward, Tokyo)

Inventive Achievement Award

Roller hemming system that dramatically improved productivity = Hirotech (Mr. Kohei Horike, leader of the Assembly Trial Section, Equipment Engineering Department, and one other person)

Roller hemming system for automobile doors and hoods. Doors are composed of outer and inner panels. With the technology established this time, the panels are bent and joined without welding. Robots can replace anvils and material handling when changing models. Improve processing speed.

Hemming is a processing method in which a thin steel plate is folded 180 degrees and flattened. There are two types of hemming: "press" and "roller." Roller hemming usually takes a long time. (HIROTECH = Saiki Ward, Hiroshima City)
